Wir über uns:

2005 startete unsere Firma mit dem Ziel, benachteiligte Produzentenfamilien in Afrika zu fördern um ihre Arbeits- und Lebensbedingungen durch den Fairen Handel zu verbessern und ihnen eine menschenwürdige Existenz aus eigener Kraft zu ermöglichen.

Alle Artikel stammen aus eigener Produktion, von Plantagen und Werkstätten aus Ghana.
Da wir direkt vor Ort sind können wir den Anbau, die Ernte und die Verarbeitung begleiten.
Wir fördern gezielt die benachteiligten Handwerker und kleinbäuerlichen Familien und deren Selbstinitiative. Auch für eine nachhaltige Entwicklung von Bildung, Ökologie und Frauengemeinschaften setzen wir uns ein.
An allen wichtigen Entscheidungen sind die Kleinbauern und Handwerker direkt beteiligt, wie z.B. die Anschaffung von Arbeitsmaterial und die Verwendung des Mehrerlöses aus dem Fairen Handel.

Djembewerkstatt

auch in Deutschland haben wir eine kleine Djembewerkstatt. Hier werden Trommeln aus einheimischen und afrikanischen Hölzern ( Basstrommel, Djembe, Rahmentrommel ) hergestellt und repariert. Fasstrommeln und Trommeln aus Agaven sind ebenfalls ein Spezialgebiet von unserem deutschen Trommelbauer.

Kaputte Djembekörper können wir individuell nach Ihren Wünschen überarbeiten, mit deutscher vorgereckter Trimmleine, innen schön glatt ausgeschliffen, mit oder ohne Fellrand.

Pablo Abdoulaye Sylla Mbengue

Pablo ist seit 30 Jahren Trommelbauer und Profitrommler. Unter anderem war er als Choreograph und Komponist verschiedener Balettgruppen in Guinea und Senegal tätig. Pablo ging nach seiner Ausbildung in Conakry, nach Senegal. Nach Beendigung seiner Ausbildung in Conakry (Guinea) arbeitete er im ``Marchè Coloban`` (Dakar-Senegal) und perfektionierte dort seine Arbeit als Handwerker und Künstler. Durch Zusammenarbeit mit Künstlern der anderen wichtigen Trommelkulturen Westafrikas wird seine fundierte Ausbildung durch große Kenntnisse des ganzen Spektrums der westafrikanischen Instrumente ergänzt.

Die Teilnehmer erleben eine neue, kreative Form der Kommunikation! Die Freude und der Spaß am gemeinsamen Trommeln und der gegenseitigen Motivation stehen dabei im Vordergrund.
Durch die aktive Beteiligung am gemeinsamen Erlenen und Spielen von Rhythmen wird für die Teilnehmer visuell und auditiv ein Gemeinschafts- und Teamgefühl greifbar. Im Rahmen des Workshops werden traditionelle Malinke Rhythmen erarbeitet. Instrumente in unterschiedlichen Stimmlagen und Klangfarben stellen wir gerne leihweise zur Verfügung.

Es wird garantiert das jeder cent der gespendet wird direkt und in vollem Umfang Ihrem ausgewählten Projekt in Afrika zu gute kommt. Der Administrative Bereich und alle anderen anfallenden Kosten werden von der Firma gespendet.

Eine neue Schule in Aburi ist dazugekommen. Afrikahandel ist Träger dieser Schule, in der 75 Kinder unterrichtet werden. Dies sind Kinder, die kein Schulgeld von Ihren Eltern bekommen können weil der nötige Verdienst fehlt. Schulmaterial und Spielsachen für die kleineren Schüler wurden gespendet. 3 Lehrerinnen, 4 Helfer und 2 Köchinnen arbeiten in der Schule.

Die Kosten für ein Schulkind mit Rundum-Verpflegung liegen bei 5 bis 8 euro im Monat. Dies ist nicht viel !

Delivery of mattresses, lock boxes, propane stove, fans, and water tank, purchased with donated funds.	This 1,800 gallon water tank costs $22 to fill, which will provide clean water for drinking, cooking, and bathing. Water will also be sold to provide revenue to refill the tank, making is self-sustaining.

ALANTASO VILLAGE WATER PROJECT

Alantaso is a rural village in Ghana's Central Region in need of clean drinking water. Water-borne and water-based diseases are the primary cause of preventable illness and premature death in this village, with children being particularly vulnerable. The collaborative effort to install a bore hole with hand pump will immediately improve the health of everyone in the village, even saving lives. In addition to health benefits, the water source will save women and children hundreds of hours a month in hauling water from streams and rivers, will increase the growing season of crops by 25% per year, and will provide a source of revenue that will be used to increase the quality of life in the village, including education, medical care, and access to technology. Your support is needed in order to assist Alantaso with the drilling of a bore hole, installation of a hand water pump, and educating a village water committee on the maintenance and use of the pump.

This project (including a bore hole for Krobidasiwakyi, a sister village to Alantaso), will cost about $10,000usd, and is scheduled for early spring, 2009, near the end of the dry season in Ghana. The Alantaso and Krobidasiwakyi villages have been working diligently to save their required portion of funds (5%), in order to contribute to their own wells.

While the artisans who crafted your percussion instrument are compensated better than fair trade standards, we still wanted to create an opportunity for you to make a direct connection with those who made your instrument. For most musicians, there is a connection between you, the instrument, and the music that is produced. We want to add another dimension of that connection - the one between you, the instrument, and the breathing human being who made it in West Afrca. We have broken the boundaries of the traditional online marketplace by making purchase experience as personal and direct as possible. You and the people who will hear you play are the ultimate beneficiaries of the skill and labor of the individuals who spent their time and energy to build the finished product you are about to enjoy. We encourage you to include a tip - any amount - to be distributed proportionately to the African men, women, and/or children who had part in crafting the instrument.

At this time all donation tips given through this portal will be distributed to individual African artisans at the AHP workshop in Ghana. We are working on building close enough relationships with the carvers and craftsmen in Mali, Ivory Coast, and Guinea, where a few of our instruments come from.
